News

On May 1st 2022 we celebrated the extraordinary work of social initiatives from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. Out of 275 applications, 15 unique projects have been selected and received a SozialMarie prize in front of a virtual audience.

Warm congratulations to the 15 winners of the SozialMarie – Prize for Social Innovation!

Main prizes:

1st prize (€15,000): Red Flags Slovakia.Digital (Slovakia)

A project initiated by a community of IT experts evaluates state-funded digital projects in an open process and makes the results open to the public. Red Flags Slovakia.Digital strengthens the public discourse against corruption and fights for fair and transparent allocation of public resources.

2nd prize (€10,000): Hobby Lobby (Austria)

The project provides free leisure courses taught by volunteer instructors for children living in low-income districts in Vienna.

3rd prize (€5,000): uugot.it TV (Austria)

The social enterprise developed an easy-to-use mobile tool that generates "smart subtitles" in German and the language of the user's choice. Through this app, non-German speakers can watch Austrian TV shows and stay updated on local current events.

€2,000 Euro prizes were awarded to 12 projects:

From Austria: CHANGES for Women, Die Gesundheitsgreisslerei, We speak…

From Croatia: Knin Wall Newspaper
