The SozialMarie Prizes were awarded!

On 1st of May in Vienna’s ORF RadioKulturhaus and for the 13th time already, 15 socially innovative projects were awarded the SozialMarie Prizes. Who are the Prize winners of SozialMarie 2017? Read here!

On Monday 1st of May 2017 in Vienna’s ORF RadioKulturhaus and for the 13th time already, 15 socially innovative projects were awarded the SozialMarie Prizes.

The first Prize, endowed with 15,000 Euro, this year went to the Czech project Studio 27 - Focused on Soul, where journalists with their own experiences of psychiatry publically confront mental illness to break prejudice and to fight the stigma that surrounds it.

The second Prize, worth 10,000 Euro, went to the Austrian project Welcome to Life, where youths living in socio-pedagogical institutions receive support beyond their 18th birthday to facilitate their transition into adult life.

The third Prize (5,000 Euro) went to another Czech project, Na Ovoce, a digital map, where you can register freely accessible fruit trees, thus helping to preserve a bio-diverse landscape and to make people aware again of forgotten fruit varieties.

A further twelve projects from Austria, Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia were awarded a 2,000 Euro Prize each:

Active patronage for Austria is this year assumed by Mr Augustin (Prince) Pallikunnel, founder and CEO of PROSI Group Vienna. On 1st of May he selected the Prize winning project Intercultural Mentoring for Schools which he will support over a one year-period.
