Miről szól a projekt?
Asylum seekers, migrants and asylum applicants are offering courses in the fields of cooking, languages, dancing, music/instruments, sport, art, games and crafts for a donation – depending on the skills of the course organisers who would otherwise have little opportunity to offer these courses in mainstream society. The aim is to spread knowledge, to learn from one another and to get to know one another. A team of volunteers coordinates and networks the various wide-ranging offers. Since 2009, work has been underway on the issue of ‘Lots of people, lots of images’ at primary schools. Cookery courses will also take place here and in kindergartens…

What better way for people to come together in mainstream society than through a concrete demonstration of what they can do? As locals, we can draw on the skills of those who come to us. They can teach us as course organisers and they have the experience of us being their students. They can also improve their knowledge of German and earn some money, which would otherwise be impossible for some of them. KAMA offers a framework for asylum applicants, migrants and asylum seekers to adopt a more self-confident approach to the realities of society in Austria – without receiving any state support. Unfortunately this is not something which can be taken for granted – which is why we are highlighting it here.
