What is it about?

MAGDI is a social communication project. We are creating innovative channels of communication and events with a special focus on a certain neighbourhood. Our goals are: Reintegration of the underprivileged Magdolna Quarter and other parts of district VIII in the social and cultural life of Budapest. Empowerment of the local community to be able to solve their everyday problems, to organize itself, generate public debate and influence local politics. Contact and details: www.zofi.hu.

Appreciation of the Jury

Young, independent and well-integrated at the same time. A bustling network as a platform and an invitation to each and every resident to be active in the context of the – socially still fragile – community in a part of Józsefváros in Budapest which has already been neglected for too long. District newspaper, video blog, street festival, public art events, workshops, bartering flea market, ... – the residents organise themselves. Diverse community development, the best type of grass-roots movement. We wish the activists more power to their elbows, so that they are able to overcome the social and cultural distance of the district from the rest of Budapest.
