Following its SozialMarie Award, youth-led My Voice My Choice reached a milestone: 1.2M signatures enable a direct hearing at the European Commission.
On September 1, 2025, the European citizens' initiative 'My Voice, My Choice: For Safe And Accessible Abortion' was submitted to the European Commission, marking a significant victory for this youth-led grassroots campaign breaking taboos around reproductive rights across Europe. Coordinated by the Slovenian 8th of March Institute, the campaign has transformed from a local initiative into a powerful pan-European movement.
The campaign team is now actively advocating in Brussels, demanding that the European Commission propose financial support for member states that currently lack the resources to provide safe, legal abortion services. Their goal is to ensure that all women in Europe have access to safe reproductive healthcare and the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies.
This grassroots model proves how collective action can shift public discourse and drive EU-wide advocacy, demonstrating the power of youth activism in creating meaningful legislative change across the European Union.
Join the movement for safe and accessible abortion in Europe and be part of change for a Europe that is free, equal, and just for all. Together we are stronger.
