O čemu je riječ?

The freephone hotline has been available throughout Hungary to people aged over 60 since 1999, and to those aged over 45 since 2005. It deals with age-specific medical or psychological issues, legal matters, patients’ rights and information about home help, retirement homes or aid agencies. Irrespective of whether it is simple or complex issues, the volunteers, who currently number 45, come from a wide variety of professions and first complete 6-months’ training, endeavour to provide comprehensive help. Additional services offered include mediators in family and neighbourhood disputes since 2007, computer courses since 2008 and monthly club meetings since 2009.

Ocjena žirija

Easily accessible assistance for an ever-growing group of the population which is perceived and assisted as distinguishable target groups, 45+ and 60+, with specific questions and (everyday) problems. Despite being manned by volunteers, high demands are made of the service provided, with professionalism being guaranteed, for instance, by regular individual and group supervision. This interdisciplinary project has good links and is developing new services each year and will shortly be expanding – by telephone – into other countries. We are already looking forward to the telephone service being available in Austria.
