What is it about?

The exhibition shows the history of the Hungarian Holocaust by displaying period artefacts. Within the wagon visitors participate in a time-travel, they gain insight of how it was to be the target of hatred and rejection in 1944, and how a man could survive through the life of a young Jewish football-player from Debrecen. The museum travels around the country since 2007 stopping in cities for a while, where visitors may see it free of charge.

Appreciation of the Jury

An ambitious project which, with a great deal of commitment from volunteers, aims to take the history of the Holocaust to people, to young people, so that they can experience history, racist incitement and anti-Semitic terror in a meaningful way. Thanks to the cooperation of Hungarian railways, museums, film institutions, students, the political authorities and local institutions, the wagon will offer all of Hungary’s 328 towns and cities a mobile venue for being confronted with the recent history of Hungary and the respective town, until 2015. This is more important than ever given the current political situation – may be message be heard!
